Asiatic Company to co-operate with GUMPERT Sportscar Manufacturer

Time to breath a sigh of relief in Altenburg – thanks to new investment the production of GUMPERT sports cars is back on track. Asian car enthusiasts want to drive the Thuringian car producer forward. In 2011 the introduction of a second series is planned.

Exactly two months after the majority of the company staff had left the company the GUMPERT Sports Car Manufacturer has finally been saved and the necessary liquidity for the completion of the many existing car orders is on hand. „On 1st September we officially signed the partnership contract“, said Roland Gumpert full of pride and confidence. „In cooperation with an Asiatic company at the same eye level we both want to shape the future of the GUMPERT marque and bring it into the fast lane.“ Concerning the details of the contracts as well as the naming of the Asian company both sides have agreed to maintain silence.

The key to the involvement of the new partner, who had already been involved in the automobile branch before their co-operation with the Thuringian car manufacturer, were not only the full orderbooks but also the quality and performance of the Apollo. “The outstanding handling perfomance and the international valid road worthiness for a thoroughbred racing car like the apollo were really important during the negotiations. As a result we reached an agreement very quickly and only had to work on the fine details“, said Roland GUMPERT summarizing the negotiations with the new partners.

The production at the Altenburg-based factory has been gradually brought into operation since the beginning of August. Thanks to the new partners the urgently needed new materials have been ordered. Apart from that the majority of the former staff have been or will be re-employed. “I am especially proud of this“, said Mr. Gumpert, “that the promises given could be kept and that we are able to carry on with the staff who have helped to build everything up.“

Apart from the liquidity gained at short notice the co-operation forms the basis in the long term for new investment in the Alteburg-based manufacturer. As a first step the new tools required to build the body which is part of a quality drive of the GUMPERT Sportscar Manufacturer have already been ordered. “Now we have the chance to raise the level of the already high standards of quality in the manufacture by a few notches“, stated CEO Gumpert. Ultimately the investments will not only benefit the potential Apollo drivers but will also flow into the development of a new model which should be on the market in 2011.
